We are in mom's whomb for about 40 weeks from mom's last menstrual period (LMP)

Early pregnancy maintained by corpus luteum (7-8 weeks).

Corpus luteum produced after ovulation(lam BM apa ya??'telur di lepaskan la lbh kurang).

Corpus luteum(in ovary) will secretes hormones eg:Estrogen(E),progestron (P) & relaxin

It was maintained by human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) prod. by trophoblast cells(placenta or uri-uri)

hCG is used as an earliest test for pregnancy, peaks 60-80 days after LMP

After 8 wks hormonal support for pregnancy provided by placenta

Placenta : E, P, relaxin, hCG & hCS ( human chorionic somatotrophin)

After 8 weeks, placental hormones maintains pregnancy.

As we can see,fetus will use mom's cholesterol to convert into::

- progesterone by placenta

- DHEA by Fetal adrenal cortex then into estrogen (by placenta)

Estrogen (­ 20X) causes::

• Enlargement of uterus via growth of myometrium
  
• Enlargement of breast & growth of ductal system
  
• Enlargement external genitalia
  
• Fetal growth
  
• Relaxation of pelvic ligaments
  
• Fluid retention
  

Progesterone (­ 10X) causes::

• Stimulates growth of endometrium – to supports growth of embryo
  
• Relaxes myometrium (dinding rahim)& other smooth muscle (result in constipation, vasodilation, etc)
  
• Growth of alveolar system in breast
  
  

  
  

Human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG):

• Maintains survival of corpus luteum
  
• Stimulates testis to secrete testosterone
  

Human chorionic somatomammotropin (hCS):

• Similar to Growth hormone –it has anabolic effects (untuk tumbesaran fetus)
  
• Reduce maternal glucose utilisation & ­
  lipolysis()

  >>mom can develop gestational diabetes(kencing manis semasa mengandung)
  

  >> breakdown of fats(lipolysis) to give energy for fetus
  

• Na, K & Ca retention- due to release of parathyroid hormone(PTH) by mom.
  
  

  PTH stimulate bone resorbtion,release calcium from mom's bone.
  

  This ca is used by fetus to form bone .
  

Anterior pituitary gland release:

• PRL(prolactin) - milk synthesis
  
• ACTH - ­
  adrenocortical hormones
  
• ¯ FSH & LH-to prevent another growth of follicle(ovum)
  

Renal(kidney@buah pinggang) hormones:

• Renin : fluid retention via RAAS activationèincrease frequency of urination(another causes:the whomb@fetus compress the urinary bladder)
  
• Erythropoietin
  - ­ rbcs (blood production)èto compensate 0xygen demands.
  
• vit D – electrolyte retention
  

see.. how much our mom had sacrificed for us. Above , only when we are in their body. anywhere, anytime, she didn't leave us behind. NEVER! For 9^th month. N.I.N.E M.O.N.T.H.S. its not 9hours,9days,9weeks. Allahuakbar… our moms were so strong,tabah. Just becoz she love us!

But,when we was delivered in this beautiful world, we dare to broke their hearts, we dare to don't care about them.we dare to say 'AAH' to them! WHO ARE WE ACTUALLY?? What have we done to our mom? How much we dare to sacrifice for them??Think,think and think..ourself..
